Ford and Me

Begin at the Beginning // #RangerRaptor

That’s the best place to start…

I write this from the comfort of my sofa, home after a whirlwind trip that feels like a dream already.

The pace of my latest trip, as part of the Employee Social Media Ambassador team taking part in the Ranger Raptor Media in Essaouira, Morocco, meant that I had very little time to reflect and post on the go. Well, the pace and the mobile data charges…

So it seems a bit strange to think it was only on Wednesday that I flew out to Frankfurt, ahead of joining my colleagues on our flight out the next day.

Here we are (smiling because the drone alert that closed Frankfurt airport had finally cleared!):

(L-R Florian, me and Filip)

So what’s the deal with employee ambassadors?

As in my other adventures on this blog, we are part of a small cohort of employees across Europe who on occasion are lucky enough to spend some time connecting with our business and peeking behind the curtain in ways in which we might normally only dream of!

Then our job is to take all we’ve learned, and share it – engagement and enthusiasm are contagious, and it’s our job to try and capture a little virality!

We all have our favourite channels – you’ll see I’ve linked the guys’ YouTube channels above. Me? I’m old school and I blog, I’m on IG and Twitter.

This is probably a good point to remind you if you’re new to the blog and haven’t yet caught up on my adventures in Valladolid and Amsterdam that all opinions expressed here are my own, and also because I’m not a traditional petrolhead things can get a little tangential here…

Across the employee ambassador cohort, not everybody gets to do everything – so imagine how lucky we three felt to be invited to travel to Morocco to spend some time with the new Ranger Raptor, coming to Europe this month?

Exactly. THIS excited…

So let’s really begin, shall we..?

Go Further // Meow

Our family loves a cat. Not just the four-legged ones – of which I have three – but the Ford Puma holds a special place in our hearts as it was the car my now-husband drove, and loved, when we first met.

Years move on, people change, and so has the Puma. Amsterdam was where we saw our first glimpses of the new Puma Crossover, stolen snaps while the car lurked in long laser ‘grass’, ready to pounce…

There’s not much more I can share on this – we blinked and the car glided away…

Go Further // Tell Me More

Events like this put you in an incomparable position to find out more about future models and our line up.

Despite being very utilitarian these days in terms of my personal approach to my car (three kids; could someone invent a soundproof bulkhead PLEASE), there’s still something thrilling in seeing something tangible out in the world, that in some small way you might be able to see your influence in.

What I do in HR may be pretty remote indeed from the final finished product but that only makes it more exciting for me to take time to connect to the products that quite literally drive the people around me, our shared successes and our shared future.

So for a while I sat back, listened, and drank in the details as the senior team joined us to share their own excitement at what’s coming.

Tell me more…

Go Further // Something New

It may have been a while since Valladolid, and boy has the world changed since then!

We’ve moved a long way since 2017 on our journey to realize our winning aspiration of becoming the world’s most trusted mobility company designing smart vehicles for a smart world, and we’ve welcomed new models, new features… so it’s no surprise that I’m really excited to be joining the So-Me Employee Ambassador team once more, representing employees exploring our latest showcase, GoFurther IV in Amsterdam!

gf-branding

Following the media launch earlier this week that you can’t fail to have noticed, I’ll be taking an employee’s-eye-view of exactly what we are offering, and offering my insights as to how our plans to #GoFurther resonate with me… stay tuned!

In the meantime I’m printing my tickets and preparing for an indecently early start in the morning… this cartoon by Nathan Pyle captures my expectation exactly…

Milano Grigio // Vignale 1.0 Ecoboost

I wasn’t really sure about the colour – I know it’s a real cliche that a woman cares about the colour of her car but when I drive my car is an extension of me, my identity, my presence.

To feel confident I need to feel confident in my car – in the safety and technical prowess (when I put my foot down I want to know there’s something to give me) but also in how I am represented on the road. So while I was a little unsure of the colour at first, like most of the gorgeous shades in the Fiesta palette the richness and depth grew on me by the end of our drive…

With Vignale the key is Detail. Every stitch in the right place. There were so many little details to discover…

I would say the extra details are added judiciously rather than everywhere – a cushion of leather *just* where your elbow rests, or a smooth glossiness where your hand will glide. It’s not overdone, it’s more of a flavour, a note of richness like a bass note of perfume.

The B&O Play system we’ve been banging (pun intended) on about is standard here.

The openable panoramic glass roof is in two parts, each with their own blind. The openable section is the front, and is smoothly operated. The opening is big enough that you could stand up and throw your arms in the air… if it was safe to do so of course!

My colleagues agreed that when you’ve driven Vignale, you can appreciate the perhaps otherwise intangible quality of the car.

Once again, because we could, and because we wanted to put off the moment when we had to hand the keys back, we stopped for photographs. In a castle. As you do…
